Estimator/Project Manager
Smith Metal Works LTD, a metal fabrication company, is seeking an estimator candidate.
Applicants MUST have:
- 5+ years of experience in metal fields
- Advanced AutoCAD and advanced experience reading structural and architectural buildings and drawings.
- Ability to work on-site – Working remotely is NOT an option.
Your specific responsibilities include:
- Doing site take-off measurements for a quote and production
- overseas sites for scheduling and installations to meet Seguro specs, engineer requirements, and client deadlines.
- Recognize and prepare change notices, deficiencies and do minor touch-ups when necessary.
- Ability and experience to use hand tools, read drawings, understand, read a tape measure in metric and imperial fractions.
- Maintain site logbooks, attend site meetings, engineer site inspections, Testings.
Required skills:
- Experience of 5+ years with railings, fences, gates, windows guards, balconies, and miscellaneous metal – MUST
- Advanced in reading structural and architectural buildings and drawings – MUST
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with co-workers, installers clients, and engineers
- Multi-tasking, time management, and ability to excel in a fast-paced position in a team environment with limited supervision.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and driving record of at least 10 years in Ontario.
- Working at Heights and Swingstage is required. The work environment is office and construction sites.
- Knowledge and experience in AutoCAD would be an asset.
- Mathematical and geometrical computations
- Documentation, research, and drafting tasks of engineering data as requested by clients or office project managers

SmithMetalWorks LTD is looking for a field engineer in the metal industry with advanced Auto Cad expertise to inspect infrastructure and conduct research on site in order to solve problems quickly. For this job, you need to have an engineering degree and be familiar with the technical aspects of machines, equipment, and technology used in different field projects. You should be an excellent problem-solver and be able to manage crises when they arise. If you meet these requirements, and you’re also a superb communicator, we’d like to meet you. Auto-DAC is a must!
Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients to determine needs and explain complex issues
- Conduct research and studies on site
- Manage field activities and implement engineering designs
- Diagnose construction or machinery problems
- Resolve malfunctions or other crises when they arise
- Oversee repairs and technical improvements
- Install new systems and technology
- Inspect and test material and machinery for safety
- Ensure proper maintenance of onsite equipment
- Supervise and direct onsite crew (e.g. technicians)
- Draft and submit reports
Requirements
- Previous experience as a field engineer or similar role
- Well-versed in technical aspects of field projects, including machinery and equipment
- Understanding of safety guidelines
- Attention to detail
- Outstanding communication skills
- An analytical mind and strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to work in adverse weather and occasional overtime and weekends
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or similar field

Smith Metal Works LTD is hiring a Customer Service Representative to manage customer queries and complaints. You will also be asked to process orders, modifications, and social media inquiries across a number of channels. To do well in this role you need to be able to remain calm when customers are frustrated and have experience working with computers.
Customer Service Representative Responsibilities:
